About NESJA

The New England Society of Jungian Analysts (NESJA) was originally formed by a small group of Zurich trained Jungian analysts living and practicing in the Boston area.  They applied for and were formally admitted to the International Association for Analytical Psychology as NESJA in 1977.  NESJA’s mission, as stated in its original articles of organization, was to establish a program for the training of Jungian analysts in accordance with standards recognized within the field of analytical psychology, and to further contribute to and promote greater public awareness and understanding of the concepts and practices developed by C. G. Jung.

True to its mission, member analysts of NESJA formed the C.G. Jung Institute – Boston, admitting its first class of training candidates in 1980.  NESJA’s ever growing number of analyst members regularly serve as faculty in the Institute’s professional training program.  They likewise facilitate educational and public programming, the administration of which NESJA and the Institute increasingly share in common.

NESJA and the Institute have sponsored and co-sponsored local, national, and international conferences dedicated to understanding and developing the theory and practice of analytical psychology, and of the varied ways in which these can contribute to the healing of our inner and outer worlds of experience.

All NESJA analyst members are certified by the International Association for Analytical Psychology, are graduates of the C.G. Jung Institute – Boston, or meet the rigorous training and practice requirements comparable to those of our Institute.  Consistent with our Institute’s philosophy of training, the licensure status of our individual members varies, as do the rules of governance of mental health practice to which they might be subject and in accordance with the state in which they practice.  All analyst members are required to uphold NESJA’s Code for the Ethical Practice of Jungian Analysis.  NESJA is also a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered by the State of Massachusetts.
