At a crossroads in his life, Craig Foster set off into the sea, and in that immersion, was initiated into a more expansive and amorous way of being in the world, senses fully open, his purpose for living renewed. He documented in film his unfolding relationship with an octopus and her underwater landscape. His story illuminates psyche’s ability to organically constellate archetypal processes of healing and individuation, when we follow its call.  We will look at the elements that gave form to his journey of soul, and ponder together the mystery of what happened to him in this strange and moving encounter with the octopus.

Common octopus (Octopus vulgaris)

Bring your readiness for reflection and feeling responsiveness to the film, and we will explore together what we can learn from Craig Foster’s journey.

What does it mean to fall in love with the wild?
How do we allow ourselves to be changed by the intelligence of soul?
How does a perspective that centers the soul lead us into our place in the world?
